San Francisco SafeHouse is honored to announce an $850,000 federal Community Project Funding award secured through the leadership of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Emerita of the U.S. House of Representatives. This critical funding will support the renovation of SafeHouse’s newest supportive housing program at 101 Gough Street, which will provide safe, stable housing for survivors of sex trafficking and their children.
Advancing Bridge Housing at 101 Gough
This $850,000 award builds on a $15 million commitment from the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, as well as the philanthropic support from incredibly generous individuals.
These generous contributions bring us just $2 million away from the $21 million needed to transform 101 Gough into trauma-informed, service-enriched housing designed to support long-term stability and healing for women and families exiting trafficking, violence, and homelessness.
“We are deeply grateful to Speaker Emerita Pelosi for her leadership and steadfast commitment to the safety and dignity of survivors,” said Toni Eby, MSW, Chief Executive Officer of San Francisco SafeHouse. “This funding moves us meaningfully closer to opening a space where women and children can begin a new chapter with stability, support, and hope.”
Once complete, 101 Gough will add critically needed supportive housing capacity in San Francisco, offering survivors and their children a pathway to safety and stability in a city where affordable housing remains scarce, especially for those rebuilding their lives after trauma.
For almost three decades, we have served survivors of trafficking, violence, and homelessness, connecting over 1,240 women and their families with safe housing and countless more to safe, supportive services through our daytime drop-in center. 101 Gough Bridge Housing will allow us to reach even more as we expect to begin construction in June of 2026 and welcome residents in the fall of 2027.
“This project reflects what is possible when public leadership and community investment come together,” Eby added. “Speaker Emerita Pelosi’s support sends a powerful message: survivors deserve safe housing, and our community is committed to making that possible.”
