Ways to Give
Your contributions help create safe spaces for every survivor
San Francisco SafeHouse is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Our Federal Tax ID is 94-3327255. Contributions to San Francisco SafeHouse are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for your generous donation. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the specific deductibility of your donation.
You can help provide stability and essential resources for survivors by giving a monthly donation as part of the Empower Circle (Enduring Monthly Partners Of Women’s Essential Resources). What sets monthly donations apart is that they are consistent and consistency that endures is an important step towards a sense of stability.
Group therapy sessions and support groups at the Hope Center and secure transportation to critical appointments are just some of the programs that are supported by donors of the Empower Circle.
Corporate & Small Business Partnerships
San Francisco SafeHouse offers business partners of all sizes a unique opportunity to support our mission of supporting survivors. Our team will work with you to tailor programs to help you reach your philanthropic goals while promoting a positive corporate image, building employee morale and engaging consumers in a cause that they care about. Please e-mail our Development department for information.
Planned Giving
Anyone who supports our mission can set up a planned gift to leave a legacy that will continue to create safe housing environments and comprehensive array of supportive services that help women thrive and enable them to rebuild their lives. These planned gifts include bequests, living trusts, and asset and security donations. Please contact our Development department at Development@SFSafeHouse.org for more information on leaving a legacy through a planned gift.
Donor Advised Funds
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support the causes you care about, like San Francisco SafeHouse! A DAF allows you, the donor, to reduce tax costs immediately. Through your financial advisor you can then grant those funds out to charities like SafeHouse over time. If you already have a DAF, you can recommend grants to San Francisco SafeHouse directly from your DAF. Please use Tax ID 94-3327255
How does it work?
+ Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that supports your DAF program. Any investment growth is tax-free.
+ Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets.
+ Recommend grants to the charities you support, with the option of being recognized or remaining anonymous.
+ If you are with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon, you can recommend a grant to San Francisco SafeHouse using DAF direct.
If your Donor Advised Fund is not listed, please contact the host of your DAF directly to recommend a grant.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD’s)
Utilizing a QCD is a tax-savvy strategy that allows you to transfer up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity. It is only available to IRAs and individuals who have reached the required minimum distributions (RMDs) age of 70.5. Any amount processed as a QCD counts towards your RMD requirement and reduces the taxable amount of your IRA distribution. This lowers both your adjusted gross income and taxable income, resulting in a lower overall tax liability. Please use EIN Number: 94-3327255

Before initiating a stock transfer, please contact Development@SFSafeHouse.org with the name of the company whose shares you are transferring as well as the name of the owner of the shares.

In-Kind Donations
An in-kind donation is a non-cash contribution of, in this context, goods given to a nonprofit rather than money. During drop-in hours, the Hope Center accepts donation drop-offs of new or gently used, clean clothing, new undergarments, unopened hygiene products, and storm gear like umbrellas, ponchos and sleeping bags. There may be periods when the Hope Center temporarily pauses the acceptance of clothing donations due to capacity limitations. However, we are always able to accept new undergarments, which remain a high-need item year-round. For more information or to find out if SafeHouse is currently accepting the aforementioned in-kind donations, please contact Development.
Community Thrift Store
Decluttering your spaces? Do it while making a difference! If you are in the process of cleaning out those drawers, closets, and dressers, consider donating your gently used items to Community Thrift Store and choosing San Francisco SafeHouse (#176) as your beneficiary! Your donations not only give your belongings a second life but also directly support women overcoming homelessness and exploitation in our community.
Donation
Are all of these options a bit overwhelming? You can always start supporting San Francisco SafeHouse the old-fashioned way. We invite you to give whatever you can as a donation and we can stay in contact from there. We look forward to serving the community with your support.
