90-Day
Emergency Shelter

Launched in January 2026, SafeHouse’s 90-Day Emergency Shelter Beds provide immediate, short-term housing for women escaping violence. This program was created in direct response to what survivors told us they needed most: a safe place to land right away, with the support to move forward.

As an expansion of our Transitional Housing program, these beds offer more than just shelter—they offer community, stability, and a pathway to long-term housing.

An Instant Impact

In 2026, two emergency shelter beds were added to our Transitional House, expanding our ability to provide immediate, life-saving housing. Early outcomes are promising: residents are stabilizing quickly and moving on to longer-term housing with stronger foundations for independence.

Wherever a survivor’s path leads, SafeHouse remains a constant—offering support every step of the way, from crisis to stability to independent living.

What is the 90-Day Emergency Shelter program?
This program provides immediate, 24/7 access to safe housing for women in crisis. Residents can stay for up to 90 days while they stabilize and plan their next steps.

When did the program begin?
The program launched in January 2026 and is one of the newest additions to SafeHouse’s continuum of care.

Who is eligible?
This program is designed for women without children who need urgent placement.

What kind of support do residents receive?
Residents receive the same level of care as those in our Transitional House, including:
+ Dedicated case management
+ Access to critical resources
+ Housing navigation support
+ Communal living
+ Connection to SafeHouse’s broader network of services

What happens during the 90-day stay?
During their stay, residents work closely with case managers to stabilize, access services, and build a plan for longer-term housing.

What happens after 90 days?
Each resident’s next step is individualized. Some transition into longer-term housing within SafeHouse, while others move into trusted partner programs.

What if someone needs more time?
When needed, support is extended so no one leaves without a safe place to go.

How many people have been served so far?
As of May 2026, four women have benefited from this program. In April 2026, the first two residents successfully transitioned into longer-term housing.

What Makes This Program Different?
+ Embedded in an established community: Residents enter the Transitional House that is already a space of trust, stability, and support—not a standalone shelter.
+ Community-centered healing: Shared meals, daily routines, and peer support help residents stabilize more quickly.
+ Full continuum of care: Residents receive the same high level of care as long-term participants from day one.
+ Survivor-informed design: This program exists because we listened to survivors and responded to gaps in services.
+ No one exits into uncertainty: We ensure every resident has a safe next step before leaving.
+ 24/7 on-site support: SafeHouse counselors are always present, providing consistent care and guidance.
