
Doreen Der-McLeod, SafeHouse Board Member
Doreen is a fourth generation Chinese-American, but the first generation born in the U.S. Doreen attended U.C. Berkeley and served as a VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) in Appalachia after she graduated. She then went to work as the Girls’ Worker in the Youth Department of Cameron House before going back for her M.S.W. at Rutgers. As a social worker, Doreen had the opportunity to work with a diverse population including at risk youth, immigrant preschool children and their parents, developmentally disabled children and families, and the frail elderly. Doreen’s last job was being the Executive Director of Donaldina Cameron House, an organization founded by Presbyterian women in 1874. Doreen is married to Bruce Der-McLeod and they have 2 daughters.
