In 2013, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to bring awareness about the situation of victims of human trafficking and their rights. Trafficking in persons is a serious crime, and both child and adult victims around the globe are forced to do hard labor, domestic servitude, sexual acts and routinely experience other forms of exploitation and abuse. July 30th is the day the world recognizes human trafficking as a hideous crime that exploits women, children and men in their own countries and abroad.
